Peer Assessment projects are an end-to-end evaluation specifically aimed at implementation projects. Over a period of approximately three weeks, the goal of peer assessment projects are to evaluate and examine the project plans, resources, and processes to assess what is and is not working effectively. The evaluation process includes and is not limited to the methodology used, the project's strengths, weaknesses, and critical success factors, and recommendations to enhance the project's delivery.
The peer assessment first gathers information aimed at understanding and evaluating the current state of the project in terms of organization, strategy, planning and execution. Two primary methods are used to gather information:
It is noteworthy that throughout peer assessment engagements, the analysis and refinement of the ideas should be firmly supported by key business stakeholders and leaders of functional units within the organization. The benefits to the project stakeholders and team is to provide an independent opinion given by subject matter experts that are influenced by the success of the client and overall project and not by internal biases and management paradigms. Results analysis and recommendations are then drafted into a document and presented to senior management to frame a specific and actionable roadmap to mitigate, restructure and align the project governance, organization and determine the critical success factors.
